OK, the plot's a little thin and some of the secondary characters a little two-dimensional but the writing is pacy and the dialog is realistic and witty. JT sets the scene real nicely too. • 4.0 out of 5 stars from Leslie Bunker -- Thoroughly recommended, but read the first two novels first! : If you're reading this without having read Jay Taverner's two previous historical novels, this may come across as a little disappointing - another urban-dyke-encounters-rural-prejudice saga, with a country-village-hides-dark-secret mystery thrown in for good measure. But if you HAVE read 'Rebellion' and 'Hearts and Minds' and fallen in love with feisty heroines Bell and Hope, there's a link to the previous novels that just blew me away once I 'got it' - from that point on I couldn't put it down, and it was the web of connections spanning the centuries that really made this a great read for me.
